Unresponsive LG Data Recovery.

Your phone carries so much data these days it’s hard to imagine going a day without it. If you are an LG enthusiast or a repair shop then you have probably seen this. Your phone boot-looping going to LG logo and then powering off and on. Powering on and getting stuck at the LG Logo. Or your phone powering on and freezing or getting a message like the one shown above, “Unfortunately Android…”. If you ever come across one of the scenarios and your phone is acting like a sack of potatoes your data is still there. If you ever come across this do not factory reset your phone. Many websites and repair shops will tell you that you need to factory reset your phone. You only have a 50% chance that your phone would work again. I have come across many phones in different situations where the users data wasn’t of importance. So we factory reset the phone only for the phone to not be fixed or to do the same thing again.

If you have important data on your phone and did not have a backup on your Google Account. Your data is still retrievable. In some cases the phone can be fixed to work again for a short period only to get the data out. In some cases you will need to remove the Memory Module from the phone to extract the information. If you have a broken/unresponsive LG and need your data. Don’t worry we offer a Data Recovery service for LG Phones. If you are local you can stop by our shop during open hours. Broken iPad Mini FPC Connector

Damaged Digitizer FPC Connector Huh?

Damaged FPC Connector again? Wondering what you are doing wrong? Don’t worry you are not alone. I have damaged a few iPad Mini 2nd Gen FPC connectors. Even though it didn’t really seem like it was  something I did wrong they still break. I have been unplugging and plugging in Screens the same way since I started doing repairs on iPad Mini 1’s. We noticed that many techs have also faced this issue on iPad Mini’s. Many changing the way they are unplugging the Screen only to find themselves still damaging the FPC Connector.

This is a very typical problem that happens with the iPad Mini’s. More so on the iPad Mini 2nd Gen that I have noticed and have replaced many FPC’s on. So don’t beat yourself up over it. The Digitizer connector is more or less just a weak connector that breaks easily. Most of the time you will notice that the pins are lifted up or broken off. The pins could be get stuck onto the Screen Connector and when unplugging the screen it is pulling the Pins from the Connector.

If you happen to have broken an FPC Connector on an iPad and wondering what to do? Don’t worry we offer FPC Connector repair service for iPad Mini. If you are local you can stop by our shop. If you are out of state you can use our Mail-In Service.

iPhone 7 Back Camera

Broken Back Camera? Can’t Take Beautiful Pictures Anymore?

Is your Back Camera Broken or not sure if it is actually broken? There could be a few reasons why your Back Camera has failed and could be Software or Hardware related. The Back Camera on many phones can be sensitive and easily damaged. The Camera has a lot of small internal parts responsible for focusing and how much light goes in. Unlike the Front Camera, the Back Camera is separate on some iPhone and doesn’t have to be removed during a screen replacement.

It is always a good idea to try some software fixes before getting the Back Camera replaced. The first thing to try is to soft reset the phone, sometimes the phone OS glitches. If soft resetting doesn’t work, you can try to restore the phone to factory settings. You will want to make sure to create a Back Up before factory resetting. If neither of these steps works then you may need to get the Camera replaced.

Did you recently have your screen replace, it’s possible that the Camera could have been disconnected by accident. In case of the camera not working after screen replacement, be sure to take the phone to the repair shop. If the screen was broken towards the top, depending on how bad it was it could have hit the back of the camera. Dropping or hitting the phone against hard surfaces can also damage the internal parts of the camera.

Failing Front Camera and can’t take selfies? There could be a few reasons why your Front Camera has failed and could be Software or Hardware related. If neither of these steps works then you may need to get the Front Camera Flex replaced.

If you recently had your screen replaced it’s possible that the Camera Flex was damaged during removal or not plugged back in properly. The Front Camera is transferred from the broken screen to the new screen to keep all original small parts. When pulling the Front Camera the flex cable could have been ripped causing it not to function. Another reason for the Front Camera not working could be that it may not have been plugged back in properly. If the screen was broken towards the top, the camera could have been damaged. Dropping or hitting the phone against hard surfaces can also damage the internal parts of the camera.

Charging Port Giving Issues

Charging Port on many devices go out frequently because they tend to see a lot of action. Repeat use of plugging in and unplugging can bend or break the pins inside of the charging port. This can lead to slower charging and even no charging. A few other things that can damage the port is using non-original chargers (knock-offs), water, and pocket lint.

Using non-original chargers can damage other internal parts of the motherboard such as the Charging IC (U2). In some cases, it only damages the port itself that can be replaced within a few minutes. All iPhones use a flex that connects to the motherboard. On many Android devices, the port is soldered onto a separate board or directly on the motherboard.

In many cases, a small amount of water may not damage the port as long as the device is powered off and given the proper time to properly dry. In the event that liquid inside your phone, we recommend turning off the device and taken to a professional to open and properly dry out. Never try to plug in a device to a charger or power on without being 100% certain that the device is completely dry. A short circuit can cause further damage to the motherboard that can make the repair more complicated.

Pocket link can also cause the phone not to charge or cause a short circuit inside of the port. If you notice the charger not going all the way in it could be pocket lint or other debris causing the cable not to make a proper connection inside the charging port. We do not recommend trying to clean out the port as a DIY project as pins can get bent or broken during the process. You can always bring it in for a free cleaning.

Symptoms of Bad Charging Port

  • Connection Issues with Charger or Computer
  • Intermittent Charging
  • Slow Charging
  • No Charging
  • Cable Not Going In All The Way
  • Cable Has To Be Wrapped A Certain Way To Get Phone To Charge
Inflating Battery

Battery Issues? How To Tell When You Need To Replace.

Having issues with your phone or tablet battery life? Well here are a few things to check for before getting it replaced. This also depends on what types of chargers you use and how often you are plugging in your phone. We all know a bad battery can be very frustrating from the phone dying randomly or taking forever to charge. Old and bad batteries can also lead to other internal problems such as damaging a circuit known as Charging IC (U2). If your screen looks like it is being pushed out on one side it could be your battery inflating and can cause damage to your screen or other internal components.

It is always recommended that you use an original charger for your phone to prevent damage not only to your battery but also to other internal components. One of the pros to knock-off chargers is how inexpensive they are compared to original, but in the long run, it is cheaper to use an original.

Symptoms of a Bad Battery:

  • Not Holding A Charge, Draining Faster Than Normal
  • Does Not Reach 100%
  • Jumping From Percentages
  • Phone Dying Randomly
  • Phone Dies before reaching 0%

Broken LCD on iPhone

What Happens When You Have a Broken LCD

If you have recently dropped your phone and damaged the screen and are unsure of whether you need Glass Replacement or LCD Replacement not to worry. The Screen on all phones is essentially the same with a few exceptions here and there. On iPhones and Androids, the screen is made up of multiple layers. The three most important are Glass, Digitizer, and LCD. The Digitizer and LCD are essentially fused together so its really one layer, but we will explain why we count them as separate layers. Many repair shops quote two prices, one for Glass Replacement and the other for Glass and LCD Replacement.

If you recently damaged the screen on your phone, but the phone still appears fully functional. Meaning that the Touch Function is working and the Display shows a clear image with no discoloration or lines, besides the cracks around the screen. It’s more than likely that all you need is a Glass Replacement. For pricing to replace the screen on your phone please visit our Phone Repair Page.

The Digitizer is responsible for touch function and LCD is responsible for displaying an image. Becuase the LCD and Digitizer are fused together, damaging the LCD will cause the touch function no to work. There have been instances where touch function will still work even with a broken LCD. LCD damage will usually show colored spots around the screen and or lines. You can get a broken LCD by simply dropping the phone or even sitting on it. If your screen looks like the above images you will need Glass and LCD Replacement.

Symptoms Of Broken LCD:

  • Colored Spots Around The Screen
  • Lines Running Through The Screen
  • Touch Not Working
  • Touch Is Acting Up Touching On Its Own
  • Image Jumping Around
